Finding Free Internet Web Conferencing That Works for You
We Don't Need No Stinkin' Money!
It seems as though there is conference calling companies springing up everywhere in the Web on a daily basis. Not only do they handle calling features, they also had a Web conferencing features as well. Fortunately, if you are going to be using conferencing solutions for your own personal use, then there are companies that offer free conferencing for smalltime users, as well as some companies who offer a "trial" service. However, do not let this "trial" scare you. Plenty of companies offer trials that have no expiration date.
But before you decide at any service and you going to be using start asking yourself some questions such as
1. Are you going to want to make presentations?
2. Perhaps share documents?
3. Maybe demonstrate some products and/or services such as software?
4. What kind of online security features does your potential "free" conference calling service offer?
5. And what type of equipment, such as extra equipment that you made not already have, are you going to need to use their service?
6. What type of limits are imposed on the "free" service? In other words, how many people are allowed per call?
7. What type of customer service does the company have? Are you going to be able to talk to a dedicated customer service representative or end up speaking with a computer that keeps having you pressing buttons and get absolutely nowhere?
8. Does the conferencing company’s web site navigation system make it easy for you to find which you need?
9. Can people call and join who have no computer and joined those who do have a computer? Telephone and computer conferencing on the same conference
10. Is there sub-conferencing?(This is where to or possibly more participants can have a side conversation separate for the rest of the group)
As you can see, "free" does not always mean free. What "free" usually means is that there is a starter package to get familiar with the company's program in hopes that they will upgrade you to their paid service. Keep in mind that is the goal of any business to make money. However, once you become aware of any companies limitations on a free plan; such as the number of participants that can be included in the conference call, what operating systems their software is user friendly with, and what additional equipment is needed, then free still might work for you if your needs fall within those guidelines. A popular free service that I use myself is known as Skype and is wonderful for personal use.
