 Technology never ceases to amaze mankind by the options it keeps putting on the table for humans.  Just not too long ago you could talk to your friends with two coffee cans and a string.  Then came the big and bulky walkie-talkies with the limited range.  After that, the walkie-talkies got smaller with a longer range.  As you grew up you took more advantage of the telephone and the features the phone company provided to you as they became available such as caller ID, call forwarding, and so on. Well now we have the Internet. The term "Internet" is such a broad example of so many different things.  There is no way to possibly conceive all of the options that are currently available to us and that will be available to us in the near future because of the Internet.  One of the benefits of the World Wide Web is known as Web conferencing.

In short, Web conferencing is the ability to use your computer to communicate with others and see them like something out of a science fiction movie.  It is the most up-to-date example of telecommuting.  Whether you use this for business or personal, it allows you the ability to speak with one or more of your associates, friends, or family.  What used to be available to us and science-fiction movies and shows like Star Trek is now a real world concrete reality.  Some of the Web conference calling providers will allow you videoconferencing.  So not only can you communicate with others but now you can see them as well.

So now the question is what can you do with this technology?  Well, that's actually up to the limits of your imagination.  If you're involved in a social circle it allows you the ability to keep up-to-date on the most current events.  If you're in a business organization, you can say if money and travel expenses by having online meetings.  And if you have a loved one, they can be there right there in the room with you because of the miracle of technology.  In fact, almost anything that you can do face-to-face with somebody you could actually now do with Web conferencing.  You can hold an online meeting.  You can see and speak to friends and family. And the best part is, for the basic conferencing needs there really isn't much more equipment you need unless you all are in the business world and you will be using Web conferencing for online meetings and conferences.  And even then the equipment you need to buy is relatively inexpensive and comparison to the amount of time and travel expenses you'll save.  The only thing that you are not able to do is physically touch somebody.  But who knows, with technology advancing as fast as it does, teleportation could be right around the corner as well.
